Proofreading
Proofing is usually the last step before publication. This step involves detailed grammar fixes, spelling, punctuation, etc.
Copy Editing
Slightly more in-depth than proofreading, those two steps are occasionally done in tandem. Copy editors also scan for plot holes and awkward sentences alongside grammar and punctuation.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing is a great step to test run your story. Make sure it has flow, avoids major plot holes, is understandable and enjoyable, and more.
